MEET LAURA:
Laura Morse is passionate about helping individuals and couples cultivate more connection, joy and pleasure in their lives. She supports both individuals and couples in her office who are looking to enhance their lives. Whether looking to move past a difficult event, or trying to make their relationship go from ‘good’ to ‘outstanding’, Morse has extensive couples, sex and trauma training to help you achieve your goals. She founded Sun Point in 2015 with the mission to provide high quality evidence-based counseling.
As a dually-licensed therapist in Maryland & Pennsylvania, Morse has worked with hundreds of clients to help them achieve their goals. Initially opening Sun Point Counseling’s flagship office in Silver Spring, MD, she now serves her Maryland clients virtually and resides in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Areas of focus in her therapy office include: communication difficulties, sexual dysfunction, overcoming sexual trauma, out of control sexual behaviors, affair repair, low or differences in sexual desire, diverse sexual interests, alternative relationship arrangements, LGBTQ issues, mood disorders, depression, ADHD, OCD, and anxiety.

Morse trained at Council for Relationships with Dr. Nancy Gambescia where her focus was on an Intersystems Approach to Treating Couples and Sexual Issues, along with Dr. Stephen Betchen’s Conflict Theory Model. She earned her Certificate of Sex Therapy and continued to pursue advanced trainings in both sexual therapy, along with advanced somatic and trauma therapy trainings. She attained her EMDR Certification at The Institute for Creative Mindfulness and supervises the Sun Point clinicians on their journey to EMDR Certification as a CIT Consultant through EMDRIA. Morse also integrates evidence-based couples tools from The Gottman Institute after completing all of their trainings to help couples incorporate tools to enhance their lives.
Additional trainings of clinical relevance include: Somatic Couples EMDR Therapy, Group EMDR Therapy Protocol, Science of Sexual Fantasies, Substance Abuse and Impact on Sexual Functioning, Therapeutic Use of Psychedelics in Treating Sexual Dysfunction, and Sexual Loses After Invasive Medical Procedures. Morse is an AASECT and ACA Professional Member and a Certified Sex Therapist from AASECT, and personally mentored by Dr. Sabitha Pillai-Friedman, Dr. Chris Fariello, and Amber Stiles-Bodnar.
After reading Caplan & Cosgrove’s ‘Bias in Psychiatric Diagnosis,’ Morse began deconstructing her beliefs about mental health diagnoses, and reorientated her practice to getting to the root of mental health issues by addressing trauma. Morse is a social justice advocate and has an extensive track record in volunteering, including: leading groups in prisons, elderly homes, and community gardening with refugees. Additionally, Laura partners with attorneys to help provide free assessments to help individuals seeking asylum. She secures pro bono and sliding scale sessions for those who could not otherwise afford services.
Morse embraces a therapeutic approach that will help her clients based on their goals. Using Acceptance & Commitment Therapy, Morse helps her clients break down shame to help people feel comfortable to be in their own skin. Her clients describe her as a down to earth relatable therapist who is committed to active treatment planning to help them exceed their goals. Laura adapts her clinical approach to her clients needs, frequently incorporating: Internal Family Systems, CBT, Conflict Theory, Psychodrama, Attachment Focused Therapy, Solution Focused, and Gottman Couples Communication Interventions.
At the core of Laura Morse’s mission is to help her clients find more pleasure and eroticism in their relationships. She acknowledges how often ‘taboo topics’ go unspoken around sexuality and pleasure, and how freeing it can be to work with a sex-positive therapist to embrace new fantasies and adventures in their lives. Morse has led trainings and approved CEU Trainings in Couples & Sex Therapy. Laura welcomes clients from all cultural and religious backgrounds in her practice and has extensive cultural competency trainings to aid her in working with individuals from all walks of life.
In her free time, Laura enjoys creating new recipes to share with her partner and rescue dog, along with finding new hiking trails to explore. She spends the month of January traveling internationally to explore new cultures and cuisines, while catching up with her reading list.
