MEET SHADENA:
Shadena Natty integrates a humanistic approach to therapy by using her grounding and compassionate personality to help her clients meet their goals. Her clients describe her as relaxed, while having a focused and confident approach to therapy. She believes in treating the whole person by utilizing an eclectic approach drawing on cognitive behavior therapy, solution focused with her overall emphasis being a strengths-based accepting approach to work with her clients.
Shadena Natty is an AASECT Professional Member as she completes her hours towards becoming a Sex Therapist under the supervision of Dr. Chris Fariello. With a background of over a decade of providing services at a premier addictions agency, Ms. Natty is committed to serving clients coming in her door struggling with alcohol or drug misuse, addiction, along with out of control sexual behaviors and diverse sexual interests.

Shadena holds two masters degrees given her passion for working in the mental health field - both with a Human Services Masters and a Masters of Counseling. Prior to working in addictions, Shadena was passionate about Community Mental Health Services and holds an array of experiences that guide her to serve those with any mental health diagnosis. Shadena has extensive experience in completing drug and alcohol assessments, along with a variety of other evaluations for individuals and couples.
Shadena formerly lead the largest team of Pro Bono and Sliding Scale Therapists in Lancaster County with several of her Masters Level Therapists holding formal EMDR training from The Institute for Creative Mindfulness. “We were so fortunate to have Shadena Natty’s leadership in developing a strong team of premier graduate therapists who can provide counseling to our community who would otherwise not have access to services” - Laura Morse, Executive Director, “Shadena continues to inspire me, planting seeds of growth at our agency by empowering our team to grow with more evidence-based tools and has passed the Internship Director role on to Tara Wiker.”
With a strong mission to help couples with sexual and addictions issues, Shadena Natty has formerly trained with The Gottman Institute and has certificates in Clinical Foundations of Gottman, along with Assessment, Intervention and Comorbidities in Couples Relational Issues. Integrating a somatic approach, Ms. Natty is Certified in EMDR with EMDRIA and trained with the Personal Transformation Institute. She utilizes these techniques to help her clients overcome trauma barriers in their lives. She is a believer that everyone has the capacity to overcome any obstacles with an active approach to treatment. Inspired from reading Bessel Van Deer Kolk’s ‘The Body Keeps the Score’, Shadena began her pursuit of continuing trauma-informed trainings to help her client’s address how trauma may be hindering their lives. Additionally she enjoys Reality Psychotherapy in her work with clients to get their needs met.
Other areas of focus in her practice include: anxiety, depression, mood disorders, childhood trauma, family therapy, racial identity, low desire, differences in desire, overcoming anger issues, and grief & loss. Her breadth of experience lends to being able to work with people from all walks of life. Her calling in life is to help make observations as her clients make the changes they hope to see in their lives. With a systematic approach, she facilitated educational programs and family support groups to help her clients and their families thrive in life.
As a former lecturer in Clinical Mental Health - Ms. Natty is an experienced lecturer in Human Services courses and Criminal Justice and formerly taught at Elizabethtown College. She enjoys empowering the next generation of clinical therapists to provide premier counseling services throughout the state of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Natty welcomes individuals from all cultural and religious backgrounds, and her passion for therapy is rooted in wanting to serve people of color, and those needing a culturally sensitive lens. She began her journey in the counseling field because she found it was difficult to find people like herself in counseling agencies.
In her free time, Shadena enjoys traveling throughout the United States and Internationally with her husband and two children. She decompresses in the evenings by reading and catching up with movies on her list of suggestions.
