Timothy's professional journey includes serving as Residential Support Staff for two years at New Visions Mental Health Services in the Cumberland Valley Area. He then worked as a Case Manager for two years at Abraxas Youth and Family Services, assisting youth with intensive needs. Additionally, Timothy spent a year as a Graduate Level Therapist at Growing Edges Community Clinic, where he provided valuable support to the Cumberland Valley community.
Timothy draws inspiration from the book "The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel van der Kolk, which deepened his understanding of the effects of neglect and abuse on children and their manifestation in adulthood. He employs systems theory to explore the influences of an individual's past and the Gestalt approach to emphasize self-awareness and self-acceptance, fostering a holistic therapeutic experience.
In the therapy room, Timothy aims to create a non-judgmental space where acceptance and collaboration are paramount. He strives to ensure that every client feels valued and supported, promoting growth and healing through unconditional positive regard and a drive for positive change.
Outside of his professional life, Timothy is an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking the trails of the Appalachian Mountains and spending tranquil evenings in a hammock. He finds hiking a powerful way to reconnect with nature and fuel his creativity. Timothy also maintains an active lifestyle by frequenting the gym and jogging along the scenic Lancaster countryside, finding physical activity a crucial grounding technique for his mental and physical well-being.
A cherished handwritten letter from a past younger client, thanking Timothy for his belief and support, serves as a constant reminder of his purpose and dedication to his profession. His own transformative experience with therapy during his undergraduate years inspired him to become a therapist and help others navigate their hardships. Timothy Steinhart remains committed to providing compassionate and effective therapeutic support, continuously advocating for and contributing to the well-being of his clients and the broader community.
